Thanked: 1I can only speak for myself, but shaving with a straight is a side effect of being badass. Another side effect is not caring whether my friends know or not.
Side note: I'm not really a badass, but don't tell anyone, I wouldn't want my friends to find out.

I've been called many things but I don't believe cool or badass was in there. I use a straight for several reasons no. 1 It helps relieve stress. kind of like taking a ride on my bike. also it's part of bringing back an almost forgotten art. In these modern times it's about speed in every thing. get It done and move on to something else. I enjoy going slow and enjoying the experience. Trying as many of the products out there soaps creams brushes blades as I can to find what I like. also the razor maintenance comes into play. the honing. getting the edge to a shave ready state. I go slow and enjoy time spent with blade and stone. I could go on and on but want. Last but not least is the camaraderie (hope this is spelled right). The interaction with gentlemen basically cut from the same cloth. men who enjoy the art of shaving with a straight or DE for basically the same reasons. Who knows maybe this in some small way will help bring back a time when some of the old ways are not only remembered but brought back. things like Honor and being a Patriot. At any rate my 2 1/2 cents worth.

Hey come on now. shaving with a straight is cool. Badass that depends. My routine is right before me and the boys go out on our weekly ass kicking spree I shave. I use some good gear lube spread evenly not to thick, I get my best razor a spike with a nice square point put on my leather jacket strop the razor on the left sleeve about 25 passes. than just one pass XTG. Now the part I enjoy the most a big splash of some nice 20 yr old scotch. Jump on the bike and on with the night. Lol. I just enjoy everything about using the old blades. Have a great Holiday weekend.

Can straight razor shaving impress my friends?
Can smoking cigarettes impress your friends? Kind of the same type of question. Most people do it for the enjoyment not because it makes them cool. I guess if your friends think it's cool you could impress them? If they really were your friends you wouldn't need to impress them shaving hair off your face. I'm with beluga on this one. Grade 8 type of question.
