Yes any vendor who is worth his salt will take care of it, and if not they can be fixed or replaced by anyone f our vendors here. As to being too big a hassle to get honed, that one I don't understand, put in box address to someone and drop in the mailbox, razor comes back ready to use, so hang in there and do as suggested, put your location in your profile, it,l, help. if the dull razor is to much of a hassle to get honed. . . what do you plan to do with the new one when its time to get that one honed?

Maybe I can buy another straight razor? Lol, jk. My other straight razor has wooden scales and I'm worried about sending it out to get honed because a lot of the places I can send it to are on the east side of the states. I'm just worried about the dry high heat from Vegas and the humidity where I send it to. Also I don't have razor oil to coat it. Am I justified in my worries?

What do you guys think about getting my 6/8 best quality rescaled? Is that something that can be done? I'm not familiar with how that works and the cost. I bought my razor to save money but I would like to not worry about my scales breaking. Also I would like to thank you guys for your replies. I never expected so many people to reply or even the short time it took.

You might consider talking to gssixgun in Idaho and you will be shipping it north instead of east. I've seen some of his work and it is great. As for oil just go to the drug store and buy a bottle of mineral oil......yep the stuff they use for a laxative.

we have no idea were the dull forestal came from, whether it was sharp to begin with or dull from use. as you mention, all easy enough to fix, just dont understand the jump to another vendor.

+1 for Glen (gssixgun) I just sent in a vintage Wade & butcher for a little restoration. Very quick turn around for me can't say that for all. He's very honest about what your razor needs and is reasonable cost wise.

It really shouldn't be much of a hassle to get it honed if your in Las Vegas NV. One of the best is in your city. Check out Maximilian in the classifieds. It might save you postage. He's honed a couple or 3 razors for me when i started back in 13 and he's good. Ssixgung is good also but it still cost to ship.

Sorry about the double entry my computer or me is messing up.

If your in Las Vegas NV the you have one of the best to hone a razor in your city. Check out Maximilian in the classifieds. I think he is still in there. I know that in 13 he restored and honed 3 razors for me and i know he's good. Ssixgun is good also but you might save postage.

The scales should be stabilized and sealed so the ambient humidity should make no difference. Seeing as you don't use the forestal anyway you have nothing to lose by sending it away for honing.
