Thanked: 0My vacation has been rescheduled, so I will definitely be there.
I'd be interested in a honing demonstration. I've tried a little with some of my razors, but haven't had much luck. I've got Tilly/Redtrader's beginner set that I'll bring with me. Maybe I'm doing it completely wrong!
Also, if someone has one of those portable microscopes, I'd love to see the progress on the blade while honing.

Thanked: 0UH...
Ok, I think it is going to be uber weird to be honing a razor at a family restaurant, but I am game - I will bring my Norton's and we can see!
I am going to have a box o'crap it appears...looking forward to it.
I don't have a microscope however...someone else can bring one of those?
Go to John Crowley's site and e-mail him if there is anything in particular that you want to see!

Thanked: 0Is it not already "uber weird" for us to be in a family restaurant with a bunch of "cut-throat" razors?

Thanked: 0Absolutely
But then again, whipping out a sharpening stone and going to town ...?
Hehe, but hey, I m game, no problem! What are they going to say? "Please put away your deadly looking highly sharp steel thingies..."?
Not likely.

Nah,
But everyone kept bringing up the locale and not the time! Thought I'd defer once again to your fine leadership!! See you at Noon!

after using my father's razor, i bought 2nd str8 off of ebay and it was very dull. i also bought a hone. after trying to hone myself, i gave up and decided to try to have it honed for me for now. i ended up finding a knife shop in willowbend mall on tollway north and park in dallas/plano. charged $10 bucks and took 24 hrs to get back. very sharp, very happy with service. name of the store is cutlery collection. just another option. i would like to get better at honing, just did not have the patience right now.
sorry i just found this sight. i will be out of town for tomorrow's get together at bj's. have fun.

Welcome VGOD -
I'm sure we'll have another roundtable opportunity and you can have some time to plan on joining in the fun. Good to know that there is a pro honing co. in DFW.
