This is not true. There are very few things that are off limits on the forum, and almost anything is fine to post, as long as people are respectful to each other.
And yes, you can buy a crappy razor from members, many have done it. I don't know if this is the case though, but in any case this is not the topic of the thread.

Does 4 say that he bought from a member here or not? The topic of the thread was he got burnt buying razors and one was from a member. I was told that your supposed to contact the member first, before you say this on the forum, is that not true, Bruno actually stepped on my post. If I can find the original thread, it was about a duck. I did the same thing, only I was more respectful and I got jumped on, Ask Bruno.Last edited by zib; 01-22-2009 at 04:02 AM.

Thanked: 278This thread has been friendly, helpful and constructive. Maybe your one should have been more like this (haven't read it myself.) I have seen a couple of other threads recently that were less than friendly and not up to the usual standards of this website, but mistakes are made, no point dwelling on them.

Ok, since you added more to your post, I will address it briefly here and if you want to continue that subject, either do it in your original thread, open a new one, or use the PM system. Thread hijacking can be occasionally OK, but this is not the case.
Now, in your thread you wanted to discuss the razor you received from another member and that's what happened. You received the opinion of others based on the information you presented. It looks to me that you did not like what others thought of it, but the topic was not a tabu. Yes, you were questioned, and I think that was because (1) you did not provide all the information and you were clearly biased, (2) the other person was not able to respond with their point of view, and (3) being skeptical is essential for finding the truth.
I think that's enough of a detour for this thread, so let's leave it back on its original course.

I never said I got a crappy razor from a member here. I said I got a razor that was not shave ready although it was supposed to be. I shaved one cheek with it and sent it to Bart who agreed it wasnt shave ready. This is the razor he finished on the Nakayama for some additional keenness after his usual honing routine.
In the part you quoted, I was trying to point out how difficult it can be for a newbie to buy a truly shave ready straight razor I'm sorry to hear that you had a bad experience, but hey - you live and you learn.

Well, after shaving again with this blade this morning, I have to say that it felt much better with my usual GFT Sandalwood cream than with the cream I used yesterday (which, btw, is not recommended for sensitive skin ). The other blade felt better, still, but I'll shave several times with each blade before commenting further, as there are too many variables to count one shave as representative.
