My "go to" rod is an Edwards 8 1/2', 6wt. that casts very nicely. My wife also fly fishes and lately she has taken a liking to my 8', 5wt. Winston bamboo rod. I knew it was only a matter of time before she started using bamboo.
I also drink Highballs. For those of you who don't know what it is, it's an older drink, whiskey and ginger ale. I like CC and ginger.

I'm in process of building a Dickerson 8013. Should be fun to fish if I can ever get some time to work on it.

hmmm....I think the OP struck a chord with most everyone on this forum.

At a ripe old 25 years old I can say I love "antique" shaving, wooden bows without wheels, flyfishing (although I've never gotten my hands on a 'boo rod), old music, old books, a good mule, "seasoned" cars that would make the EPA gag, trying to build a lapstrake canoe out of mahogany, and heating with wood.

Seems like everything took a wrong turn sometime in the last century...doesn't it?

    Welcome.

I'm retro, just not that retro.

Don't drink, can't stand fishing and don't like music.

My car is a 1993 that was paid for years ago. Took out the radio and the AC long ago to save weight.

Dang shame I'm only 39. I shudder to think how I'll be at 80.

I just bought a Dovo "Prima Klang" with a 3" strop from SRD. I know with Christmas presents flying around, it will take a few days to get here. Yet, I'm "kid at Christmas" excited to get it.
    Should I seek professional help?
Shoot, I'm only 29 and I'm anxiously awaiting becoming a codger. I ride steel bicycles (and am currently trying to learn how to weld to build my own), I don't currently fly fish with a bamboo rod (student loans and kids...) but I've been setting aside spare funds to save up to build my own, albeit I might start with learning how to wrap graphite. I do like to fish with one of my father's when I'm up visiting him. I mostly listen to bluegrass these days.
I've been finding that no matter how great the destination is (great shave, in this case), the journey is 90% of the fun, if you just take the time.

I think grass is easier to wrap than plastic. The corners hold the threads.
You are absoltly correct, the journey is a BIG part of the fun.

I'm a bit late coming into this thread but welcome brother! I also share many of the traits mentioned. Love to fish, squirrel hunt, wear a fedora, carry a pocket watch, read real books, smoke pipes, drink gin and scotch, own ALL of Sherlock Holmes, play the banjo and mandolin, and shave with an item that will get me thrown off of any airplane in town. Oh yeah, I'm 63 so I've come by it the long way. Again, welcome to the addiction.
