Another picture info post..
I don't know if this belongs here or not, but I figured it would work here..
I shaved different sections of my face with three different blades, one dull, the next just after honing, and the next is fully sharpened and stropped to the "sweet spot" all three were WTG and then 36 hours later Macro shot the areas...
Here is the area where I had shaved with a dullish razor... I had actually used this one on my head a while back and hadn't stropped it... for those who straigh razor thier head know that a scalp will play havoc on a blade. Needless to say there was a lot of pulling and I did have to do a couple of passes too. There were several hairs that looked like this one in that area, torn, split and jagged. This area was also the reddest and stung the most when witch hazel was applied.
This next one is right after a blade that was honed on a norton 4000/8000 combo stone "Pyramid" style.. If you notice even though the cut on it is flat the end of the hair looks jagged, but there wasn't much irritation and I think the reason they were a little jagged is because a newly honed blade has teeth.
Now this one was done with the blade at the "sweet spot" Oddly enough it was a very clean cut... but when you see it you will know what I am talking about, I fully expected a flat clean cut or flatter.
Now I know it is angled because it's a WTG pass...
Well I hope this info explains some things or is at least entertaining.

Thanks for the share. That appears to have took a ton of effort! Provides great appreciation of a good blade.
Not that I want to dispatch more work...but, lol. This being the beginner forum, it may be enlightening to view lower magnifiation image with properly honed and stropped blade with proper technique vs improper angle vs improper pressure or some such compare.

that is pretty interesting. i've never seen a face that close up to be able to show hair like that, especially in the last picture. i guess the bbs shave we all strive for is just an allusion.

Next time you think you got a BBS shave, take a look at your face in a 10X mirror. You'll be surprised.
I too would like to see more of these photos from various pass angles and with different blade qualities.
I don't know either where this post belongs, but it sure belongs somewhere!

It looks to me like the razor is still not sharp enough, causing the whisker to be flattened on edge impact and then sheared sideways.

It might be nice to get some photos of the result after the blade is sharpened by one of our honemeisters.

I will definitely be putting more pictures up with different angles and as my blade from confessions of a blade thread gets sharper I will get images from that one from now on.. I don't think i will shave with a dull one again though.. My face is red and irritated.. and the bad part is I can actually Dry shave even with a straight razor and not have this leve of irritation...
As soon as my canon 5D gets here I am also going to shoot Macro Video of a pass or two... but that's a little bit down the road.. I will keep this and Confessions of a Blade going for a while as they are research threads I have been wanting to do..
By all means though keep the suggestions comming.. I definitely can use the input..
