Haha guys I think I will totally write a letter to young folks. Just "convince" your son to check out the forums one day once the thread is up

Thanked: 1936Hey Parker, waiting to hear from your folks. Did you get your strop situation taken care of?

So i just finally got my strop! I'm gonna attach the pictures on this thread, and then send the picture of my dad and the stuff to shooter personally. I have already used the soap and brush a couple of times with my disposable razor.
Brush: VDH Boar: I know it is not the best, but I really like it because it it somewhat rough and does a great job of cleaning my face.
Soap: C.O. Bigelow Proraso and VDH combo. Really great hybrid. Don't have to use as much Proraso which is good, but the menthol is still just as effective.
Bowl: VDH standard. Probably going to get another eventually.
Strop: Star Shaving Supplies Black Latigo 2". Looked clean and simple, which I love. Will probably customize and throw on an SRD replacement piece of webbed fabric.
PS: Looked for a Newspaper with todays date on it, couldn't find one. I think what I have should work, if not, I'll look harder.
I think it is a pretty good starter setup! May be wrong, may be right!
Thanks for everything
Parker

Great thread. Good for you shooter for helping a young man into the wet shaving community.
Parker, you are off to a great start. I have shaved with razors honed by shooter, you won't be disappointed. Good luck!

Thanked: 334Parker:
It does my heart good to hear of a young man such as yourself taking serious interest in a classic "old man's" hobby. As my Aussie buddies say, "Good on ya, mate!"

Thanked: 1936Spoke with Parker's father and it's all a "go". I'll be sending out his razor today if the wife will mail it off for me. When you get the razor, please only wipe the blade with alcohol to disinfect the blade...no stropping yet. Practice stropping with a butter knife. When you shave with the blade, strop about 40x after the shave & 60x before your second shave. It's about to all get very REAL, so please take your time...or the blade will remind you.
