i never use one , i have though , the cuts i have had the styptic seemed to have no effect .. and anything smaller has stopped after a cold wet cloth

I always pull out the pencil, if I don't I will need it.

Thanked: 1936Styptic pencils are for girls, real men use small pieces of toilet paper & wear it proudly. One square maximum, then you have to break out the superglue.

Thanked: 50Alum block, yes. Styptic pencil, no.
Cold water splash to clean off lather, then alum. Clean up, then daily ritual. Finish with washing face and applying Poraso. On the odd day when it's a little too close a shave and the burn is still there, Vitamin E from the Body Shop.

I usually wind up using it 3-4 times a week now that I've shaved my 'stache and goatee off because my chin has a serious cleft in it and it's very difficult to get a good smooth shave there without a few weepers at least.
