I just found the following link. I am going to contact them and find out if they are based in Durban. If so what our rate will be to order.

What is a finishing stone compared to a honing stone.

A finishing stone is very very fine (15 000+ grit) and should only be used after honing on coarser stones (up to 10 000) and if you really know what you are doing with your honing.
I use Norton stones up to 8000 and that is all you need. Going finer will only make your shave a bit smoother, it will not make the razor any sharper, it is already sharp after 1000 grit. I have a zulu grey stone as well and up to now have been experimenting with it and do not recommend that you try it until you have some honing experience.

Also my Dovo that I bought new was not nearly sharp enough from the factory, it's wonderful now and I only go up to 8000 on my Norton stones and strop. Some paste on a strop also helps to smooth the edge and is a cheaper alternative to a finishing stone.

I helped Gerhardb hone his Dovo (hopefully it is shaving nicely now?), I can help hone your razor if you like before you waste your time and money.

You can buy stones up to 5000 grit from Yuppiechef, which you will be able to shave off, but a bit finer would be better.

DDUNC: where are you from and would you be so helpful as to hone my razor if you are in close proximity to centurion.

Hi, look at Amazon http://www.amazon.com/Norton-Waterst...rton+whetstone they sell a Norton kit for $130 that includes a 1000 4000/8000 and a flattening stone. Also I found this place in France that sells Thiers Issard Razors - I just spent way too much on 5/8 Bijou de France and a 6/8 Bucephale they should be here in about 3 weeks. www.art-et-couteaux.
