I tried one a year or so back, a Vie-Long at the lower end of the selection. My example was floppy, and went to live in the country ... I did read decent reviews before it was purchased, just seemed Vulfix to me .. so there's no horse (sp) here, but boars and badgers abound

But seriously after about 8 years of wetshaving I've only recently bought my first two badger brushes. They're both OK but they feel a little mushy to me, I prefer the coarser feel of a boar brush. Probably just personal preference but I'd say boar but I'm still test driving the badger. My front runner at the moment is a VDH boar that is just a tad too soft to remove paint from a car. I love it.

Was looking at that too, probably from the same site.

When you can get a basic boar brush in the $8-$10 range from a Canadian retailer why question it? They have good prices on everything there and I prefer the stiffer boar bristle.

I have an Omega 10005 boar and it is a great brush. The knot is 24mm and the loft is 55mm.

Badger brushes to me are softer and more absorbent. My favorite brush, period is Finest Badger because I want more scritch than from the more expensive Silvertip Badger.

Yea, my daily brush is rooney finest because I had to have the best of both worlds, but due to the price point one has to know they really, really want it.

If you're considering vulfix, I'd suggest thater instead.

Hey now, I will stand for no badger bashing...

Now if you like it scritchy, try using one when the hair is still on the badger. You will get all the scritchiness that you can handle but they are a little hard to lather with.

I just got my first silvertip badger brush and I love it! Holds water well, and whips a good lather relatively quickly. Feels incredibly soft on my face. I was using a cheap badger brush, and the difference between the two is like going from a Ford Pinto to a Cadillac, both will get you there, but for me it's all about the ride!

at first time i thinked badger brush..infact i selled my boar brushes for badger ( silvertip, finest )
after 6 months a selled my badger brush for boar brush...
Badger brushes are fantastic for a delicate message of skin...but haven't backbone like boar (like Omega 10098/48 or some semogue ) besides with boar brush is better(IMHO) dose water while you laterhing in face.
i have best result with italian soap with boar brushes...also for my heavy beard(often beard of 4-5days), a brush with good backbone on tips , is a sweet solution
