I agree, That's why I'm doing that double boiler method with the small crock (potpourri pot). I tried to use it as a scuttle, but it would get too hot and dry out the shave cream. It also takes about 15mins to heat. Those little glass bowls fit in it perfectly with water about halfway up the crock. The temp stays just right throughout the shave. I do 3 passes normally.
Looking again at the original post, That Chefmate on the back of the Toilet lid is small, maybe 1 qt max, That's not the 1.5 qt chefmate that I bought today at Target. His is smaller. As a matter of fact, I'm taking mine back, it's too big.

P.S. I opened up the box when I got home last night, checked the instruction manual hoping for a web address and low and behold, mine is the dreaded sc-15. I couldn't believe it. In the original post, it seems so much smaller. It's usuable, but kinda big.I have a large countertop in the bathroom with lots of room underneath for storage. I guess I'll just put it up when not in use. I'll give it a go.

The pot takes a while to warm up, so I go with high initally, and then drop it to low when I'm ready to start. However, I did find that it kept drying out my lather, so today I tried using it as the base for a double boiler (filling the scuttle with water, and floating a bowl of lather in it). I think this worked out WAY better, although to be fair, I also used the "uberlather" method for the first time as well today.

I will continue to experiment, and report back
    That's the way to go....
