Of course like with anything else people prefer one over the other and whichever you favor, well that's what you favor.

Just consider that they have been using brushes for probably 200 years or more and badger has always been considered the premium brush with boar the cheaper alternative.

Rather, Badger has been the luxury, elite choice of royalty, while boar was what Ben Franklin used.

Basically yes. But I used my Pure Badger today and it was kind of a let down after using the Omega all last week. Which is sad because I used to really like that brush.

What would everyone say is better: Omega boar or Semogue boar?

Someone else needs to tackle this one, I don't have a Semogue. Yet.

    Whatever floats your boat....

If you manage to erode the prices of premium badger brushes, power to you.

They're actually such different animals I find it hard to judge. The semogues seem a little softer, maybe the hairs are thinner? but still quite firm.

You know, I'll be honest, I THINK my Semogue is a little better, but I can't quite put my finger on why...they're both good choices, that's for sure.

In terms of price... I got my Omega for $8 from a B&B member brand new, so you can't beat that. But I think the basic models are about the same price retail. Not entirely sure though.

I've had the Semogue for only a couple of weeks, and used fewer than a dozen times. But so far it has not come close to the Omegas, even when they were out of the box. I am still giving a chance, since it does seem to getting softer.
