I personally prefer a stiffer brush. I don't feel that i can get as much lather with a softer brush. So yes i guess i prefer a boar brush.

Thanked: 3795Not me.
I prefer a stiffer brush, but I prefer the lather produced by a badger hair brush.

The fact is you name the hair and there are plenty of guys who are fans of it. Synthetic,Horse,Boar,Badger or combinations.
The question is are the number of guys who use badger higher than the number of guys who use all the rest together.

Thanked: 270I have an Omega 10005 beechwood handle brush that cost me about $15 and twice a week I love lathering up with a stick of Irisch Moos and shave with my Merkur slant.
The other days I like to use a badger, alternate between shave soap and shave cream (Poraso is the one I'm most excited about now), and shave with a straight.
So the answer is "all of the above."

Thanked: 530I don't prefer boar to badger, but I also don't prefer badger to boar... At the moment, I have three of each... I like the badger with creams and the boar with soap... They just feel better to me like that

Yep. My brushes, in order of preference:
Semogue LE Boar by a HUGE margin, then
Semogue 1305
Omega 49
Omega 21047 Boar/Badger mix
Kim Son Vu Silvertip.
I've tried lots of brushes, high end and low, and this is the way it's fallen for me.
