a Mallee root would have to be the worst of them rocks & sand & what not embedded in it
& a large amount of Mango trees in Queensland in Aus have star pickets, nails & other metal oject in them as the star pickets would get encased by the tree and the iron nails etc were meant to help them fruit was the theory
its just awesome to hit a nail with your chainsaw let alone a star picket to make you invest in a new chain

    That's might purty Andrew!

It sure looks like you nailed the CA in the end. A fantastic turning job. My attempt at round would have ended up looking more like a pear.

May your lather be moist and slick, the sweep of your razor sure, and your edge always keen!

There is a tree in my uncles yard that has a pair of ice skates in them. I remember putting them in the crotch of the tree more than 20yrs ago and now all that is left sticking out of the tree is a shoe lace. It is amazing what will turn up in a tree.

I've seen a red maple and a regular hard maple grow together to form one main trunk. Kinda neat when I first realized what had happened.

Heres another in the wild find, 40 lbs of real Lignum Vitae (not vera wood or argentine) the real deal.
Took me yrs to get the guy to let one go (he has many more)
This wood can no longer be imported into the U.S.

I like the way the brush turned out! a CA finish can be a pain especially with oily woods. I've gone just the opposite of you and started playing around with oil finishes.
