Thread: Am I Evil?

Interesting conversation that's for certain. IMO it is situational...
Would I exterminate an intruder that has displayed there is an imminent and apparent threat of serious harm to one of my children or immediate family?
With out question, and that's a 1 to 1 ratio... IMO that's not evil, that's heroism.
It's a dog eat dog world out there. If such an 'intruder' made a conscious decision to undertake such a risk such as robbery or taking a hostage or electing to assault and / or attempt to murder another, there is an inherent risk that individual took at that moment that they may become a casualty.
If we are talking more like 'sacrificing' and innocent 'lamb' to save xy I guess there is more of a thought process behind the choice then the 'intruder' circumstance.
As for the purity of ones soul after the above mentioned, that's up to whether you TRULEY believe that the means justified the end...
The main difference is sacrifice vs consequence. One who is sacrificed will be remembered for their deed. One who died as a matter of consequence will be remembered for their tragedy. No well souled man would ever want blood on their hands as a matter of pride, but if a well souled man has blood on his hands as a matter of bettering other what will that person be remembered for?
Perfect example is a war hero, you know them as a person who fought to save others and risked their own life and limb to make sure others survived. No war hero is ever proud of the mountains of bodys that fell at their hands to save those that mattered.....
Which wraps this up.... Those that mattered. Who matters to who is depending on who you ask.
A hero to one is a foe to another..
One mans pure spirit is a demonic one to another.
The question is how do you view your actions, and despite circumstances did you do the right thing at that moment.......... Making Old Razors Shine N' Shave, Once Again.

In real life, there's always more than a binary answer to any question. Find it hard to believe that would be anything but the expedient answer to the situation at hand.

Indeed a good question to ponder when sitting around a campfire with some very old single malt scotch and a thick Cuban cigar. Ethics and spiritual beliefs SHOULD determine the action I'd think. That's theory though. More likely if one found himself in a situation where that decision had to be made, it's more likely that situational ethics, emotion, and any military training would rule the day. However, if someone is on the thread that lived through Kosovo as a civilian in '96/97 or in some declared war zone they may have a point of view that trumps all else. I haven't read all 16 pages (or however long this is).

If you can ask yourself the question "Am I evil?" the only true answer is no.
Truly evil people would never even think of asking themselves the question.
