Thanked: 3222Yea, you don't have to google it. Fukushima has been going on for over 2 years and it is not getting any better. Chernobyl happened 27 years ago and we are still here. That is not to say the after effects were not horrendous from that disaster and they weren't localized either.
The world is offering and has been offering all the help and advice it can give to the Japanese government since the start. I just don't see what worrying at this point will do. You just have to stand by and deal as best you can with the inevitable consequences at this point. At least Ford offers some comic relief.

Hey, if you guys enjoy being the laughing stock of the continent then by all means...
I just can't understand why you guys aren't embarrassed. As a Canadian, and an Ontarian, I sure am.
And TEPCO is more concerned with keeping things under wraps...you guys can believe what you want.

Thanked: 3222At least there is a commonality between Fukushima/TEPCO and Rob Ford and that has to do with keeping things under wraps one with more and one with less success. That is SOP for Corporations and Governments alike, sadly so.
The older you get the less you worry about embarrassment and hope that by exposing an embarrassing subject to a strong and constant light it will go away, permanently.

Thanked: 1195On one hand, I do refer to this as the Beiber Effect. Entertainment "journalists" mock him constantly and openly wonder when his 15 minutes will be up, never realizing that the attention they lavish upon is only furthering his career.
On the other hand, Justin Beiber does not make decisions that shape policy for millions of people (or represent them on the national/international stage), Rob Ford does. Being a public figure, especially one that is embroiled in a rare Canadian scandal, he will naturally be part of the news and tabloid fodder. I truly wish that the best thing to come out of this type of publicity is that the people of Toronto will boot out that bloated clown for good. Now whether or not that happens as a result remains to be seen. But I do know from life experience that simply ignoring a problem does not make it go away.
As for Fukushima, if that's an issue near-and-dear to your heart why not start a separate thread about it?Last edited by Ryan82; 11-23-2013 at 08:27 PM.

Not jumping into Canadian politics, but I've only heard of this one misguided Canadian politician. So for us down below, it's a bit entertaining,,,,, He's like that new addition to the local zoo, that increases sales for a few months. We have a Rob Ford in every city in America. ,,,,,Hell, Rod Ford probably gets all his contraband from us,,,,

Largest Canadian Mayor in the news again,.....and again,....and........
Ford had to explain Tuesday the photo of him with two Hells Angels members and a prospective member at Sunday's Buffalo Bills game after it was posted on the Hells Angels Toronto website. A man for the "little" people.
The following is an article By Alex Hudson
Controversial Toronto Mayor Rob Ford's name has been all over the news lately, and today (December 1), he had a brush with the music world. Ford attended an NFL game between the Buffalo Bills and Atlanta Falcons that was held at Toronto's Rogers Centre, and songwriter Matt Mays has claimed that the mayor stole his seat.
The singer tweeted, "Rob Ford is sitting in my seat at the Bills game. He stole my seat. I don't know what to do." He added, "I'm by myself. I gotta kick him out right? I mean I would kick anyone else out... Am I wrong?"
He continued, "The mayor stole my f@#%ing seat man!!" before finally announcing, "Got my seat back." Unsurprisingly, the comments prompted a big reaction on Twitter.
Mays spoke with the National Post about the alleged incident, explaining, "The poor usher guy was like, 'Dude, I don't really know what to tell you right now — Mayor Rob Ford is in your seat, bro,'" Mays said. "It was kind of entertaining."
Ford apparently showed up shortly after kickoff, with Mays arriving shortly after that. According to the National Post, Ford remained in the seat for most of the first half.
Clearly, Mays doesn't harbour any ill will over the apparent seat-swiping. "I don't think it was intentional," Mays said. "But I mean, I just thought it was funny that out of 60,000 seats, he's in mine. I wasn't mad. I just thought it was funny."
He didn't offer an opinion on the mayor's politics.S.L.A.M.,.......SHAVE LIKE A MAN!!!
