I gonna ask a serious question since a lot of veterans post on this thread and none of my other threads ever pick up steam. Stropping? how do you know if your doing it right? How long does it take if your doing it wrong to roll an edge? I do think I get good shaves, but have nothing to base that on and I don't think any other SR shaver lives near me that I can get with. Maybe a veteran who can PM me so you and I can communicate back and forth and let me know what to look for. I use a SRD paddle strop with felt being the first then on to leather.

    thanks,

You can roll an edge in one pass. Done that.

My best gauge was shaving with a shave ready razor that has been professionally honed and using that as my benchmark. I'm up to a few months now before I need to touch up the edge.

Could I actually be somewhat good at it then? I cannot tell the difference on the blade between shaves.

Like the man said compare to a shave ready razor. If you have more than one, send it on in to one of the Honemasters i.e gssixgun or Straight razor designs. If your getting good shaves, you haven't rolled it yet . Hope that helps ?

If you have someone within mailing distance then send it to them and ask them to tell you what the edge is like. I sent my first razor back to the guy that honed it after 4 weeks and asked him to evaluate the edge compared to what he had supplied.

Don't sell yourself short. I am not perfect but have done some comparisons and I am not "That bad".

Hard to say without a comparison though....

The age old question ............if you grab a nacho and all the other nachos stick with it, does that make it one nacho ?
