If I was a barber I would have at least 2 razors that were identical in my drawer. When my customer had his face covered by a towel and hopefully others were watching I would grab the dull one out of the drawer and make a production out of loud fast stropping motions with no danger to myself or my strop. Afterwards would replace it in the drawer and remove the towel relather etc. Then get the sharp one out of the drawer and proceed to shave my customer.

Too wet a lather causes messy face-lathering. An observation!

I can, I taught myself to do it after a school excursion to a victorian schoolroom and the teacher told me of for not being able to do it.
