I awoke to about 3 new inches of snow I checked the Weather Channel for the prediction for today at 9 am and it was a total of 1 inch so I decided to just wait and shovel later. (I also charge my neighbor in the duplex to shovel) about 10 am I heard a noise and looked out and the city had a snow plow out clearing the street. Oh Great! That means that I'll have a furrow to shovel.

Well I heard the snow plow come by a couple more times and when I went out to shovel I found that he'd pushed All of the snow to My Side of the street!Name: Mean Smiley.gif

I've been here for 12 years and that is a FIRST! They have Always plowed to both sides of the street.

Oh well! I got the furrow cleared and my neighbors side done as he had errands to run. I'm waiting till it stops or at least until this evening so I only have to do My Side Once.

It's supposed to start raining tomorrow--we'll see--

That's why I live near the Atlantic in NC. I have few weather worries (occasional hurricanes) and none are about snow, which I had my fill of living in the Maryland suburbs of DC.

The snow has stopped and is 'Supposed' to not start again for a day or two so I was out shoveling another 3 inches of snow and I saw a guy shoveling his walk with a tool that I had to use as a child. I couldn't believe it! He was using a Grain Shovel! They look like this:

Now I believe that his was made from aluminum--but the one I had to use was made from steel! Oh how I appreciated the plastic snow shovel I was using!

This is what I was thinking. In the rural midwest at least from the fall through the winter most pickups have one in the back.

That dang plastic "pusher" shovel is not going to get you out of a 6" drift very easy.

Not that that is easy with a grain shovel!

Saw him live. He is a hoot, and for those who think the drink is a prop, that's not iced tea he drinks on stage. We were at his 2d show of the night, and he repeated a joke, and then joked about it, saying he thought the first time was in the 1st show.
