OK, I've tormented you guys enough.
If you've never seen the Clint Eastwood Movie 'Heartbreak Ridge' here's a clip that will help explain why I do what I do at times:
I don't have a lot of money so when I retired and started fulfilling my lifelong dream of having a Harley Davidson and being able to make long rides I knew that I'd have to be 'Frugal' when it came to lodging. So I try to stay at motels that are fairly inexpensive and they usually don't offer a lot of 'Luxury's'.
Simple packets or small bottles of shampoo is one that is usually not found. So I decided to use an empty hand soap dispenser to hold my regular shampoo as taking a big bottle was out of the question.
First time using it on a ride---well it worked--'KINDA'---but what a PINA it was as I'd have to try to make sure that I turned the dispenser after I'd put the shampoo in my hand so as not to waste any shampoo.
I'd estimate that this worked around 50% of the time.
So here just a week or two ago I was refilling my liquid dish soap bottle and so had a spare 'CAP'. I looked at it, then looked at the hand soap dispenser on the counter and wondered "Hmmm could the threads from one type of liquid dispenser be the same as the other? Well only one way to find out"
Yup! The pull top fits perfectly on the old pump style threads so no more wasted shampoo and I have an even more compact container of shampoo.

My dad never understood farmers who would stop harvest to go to church. He always maintained that once you start harvest you harvest till you were done as you never knew what might happen. Your entire yearly income depended on that harvest and if you took a day off and there was a freak hailstorm and the remainder of your crop was ruined it was because you took a day off to go to church.
With that said, my dad said he quit going to church as when he would walk in the building would start to shake and he'd run out so it didn't collapse on him!Our house is as Neil left it- an Aladdins cave of 'stuff'.

I just got an email in from a cousin. He knows that I ride a Harley.
Anyway the title of the email was "Do you know what a Live Organ Donor Looks Like"?
It took awhile to track down the video since it wasn't a link. While I'll give the guy a 10 for 'Balance' I'd have to give him a 1 for 'Brains'--or at least being able to use what he was given--
Kind of reminds me of the pics of one of the guys doing the 100+ stunts and ended up with his head embedded in the door of a semi trucks trailer.
Here's the link--once there---scroll down at your own risk--

Thanked: 4207Musing for the day.
Inspired by work, not this haven of na’er do well’s.
Lack of intelligence can be offset with clear instructions, which raises the level of confidence, and some say intelligence, or at least wisdom.
Lack of education can be offset with clear instructions as well. Which also raises the level of job specific education.
Lack of integrity, I believe, can only be offset with policing, overwatch, and scrutiny. None of which motivate a workforce as a collective. And none of which raises the integrity of the worker in question.
I guess I’m looking for other ideas on how to raise an adults integrity. Personally I feel it’s like faith. You either have it or you don’t, and no amount of training will change that.

What if they lack the ability to use clear instructions?
I know that then my instructions are not clear.
At least to them.

Get a bunch of students in a dangerous shop where they don't have a clue.... Start a machine familiarization talk.
Look up and two of ten. . . may be paying any notice at all. Tell all to put away cell phones and ear buds. Still half ar not anywhere near sharing the space.
Use Loud Brooklyn whistle. See eyeballs!
Then explain to them that " If you want to count to 21 at bed time you'd better listen up! "
Raise a hand and touch each finger. . . One ,and two...
Got chewed out by the administration but got good vibes from other instructors.

Thanked: 4207Musing continued,,,
I dunno Tim, if they don’t get the instructions, they can’t be clear enough and need revising. Instructions can be visual, textual, audible, tactile, repetionally based, etc.
I was able to convey via photograph based SOPs effective sign off and training of immigrant workers with virtually no English skills, in a modern TOYOTA car plant when I was in the industrial cleaning business, so I feel anyone capable of getting themselves to a specific address every day, has the ability and basic intelligence required to accept training of some form. Even special needs staff can be safely and effectively trained if you can reach their attention centers and hold them there.
I swear, looking back, those guys from Guiana and Nairobi could barely speak to me, but worked hard, took pride and smiled while shoveling out the paint sludge on the midnight shift for half what the assembly workers made. Their ethic, and integrity was evident and the pride in earning their own way,,
Richard, scary how hard it is to get the kids attention. Up here they are going to try banning cell phones in class again. It will fail again, as it’s not mandatory to surrender your phone and kids today will challenge their teachers like never before.
To me the only way to make them put the phones down is send a jamming signal while class is in session. Drop the jammer between periods and if any alarms are pulled. But aside from that, jam on and pay attention to your instructor.
Happy Friday men!
