The main replacement was from a separation column of 2 mm diameter to a 0.1 mm diameter. Taking into account that the columns relate as 22:0.12 = 4:0.01, the sensitivity should have increased about fourhundredfold (haven't measured the exact increase, but it sure is a lot better).

I like explaining these things! The separation of a mixture with HPLC is based on pumping the mixture through a column with, for instance, hydrophobic material. Hydrophilic molecules will travel faster than hydrophobic ones, hence the separation

I can just understand enough to be dangerous myself. But with terms like High Performance, Snake Venom, Proteins, and Hydrophilic, who could help but be interested?

I was thinking it might take more than 3 posts to explain!

I used to keep a hydrophilic in my wallet but, I was afraid to use it for fear it would break from being sat on so many times so I got a new one. Can't be too careful y'know. An ounce of prevention and all heh heh.

Ask away! The point of my project is searching for new drugs derived from poisons. It sounds counterintuitive, but if an ingredient from a poison leads to low blood pressure, that could serve as a drug for people with high blood pressure.
