about 20yrs ago i caught my first , have never looked back , i was fortunate enough to have parents who would drop me off at the mouth of the river and pick me up 8 hours later upstream !! do to catch and release our numbers are crazy and every year the fish are getting bigger and bigger .. my dad used to catch salmon in the same creeks i fish but snagging was allowed then and wiped them out .. now reproduction is limited and OH,PA,and MI have cross-bread steelhead in order to keep a sustainable run of fish from fall to may , the crowds are heavy now and it has become an industry on the great lakes tributaries , in the summer months the small mouth bass run in schools also ... as much as i like fishing from a boat , i have never found such piece as i have crawling on my hands and knees to a fish ,throwing a size 16 nymph at a 10lb steelhead that has been casted at all day with no luck , and setting the hook cause he was used to seeing ppl all day and i snuck in !!! im getting goose bumps just thinking about the season starting again !!

I'm running an Evinrude HO 150 hp. It has many computer driven features that make it a great engine.
It is fuel and oil injected and will self winterize complete with cylinder fogging.
First maintenance is due in three years.
Fuel economy is awesome. Filled the tank at a lake in NY (week stay) on July 4th, and with weekly fishing at home, I still have more than a 1/4 tank.
Others have told me they see the same thing.
The hole shot on an 18' Stratos glass boat is hard to time, it's so fast.
My old welded G3 17' ran a 50hp Yama and had poor top end speed. Just not enough power.
I can't say that I agree with you on part of your comments as I went for a 4 stroke (I had the Mercury options of a 75hp 2-stroke or 60hp 4-stroke) due to the oil injector going out on my evinrude back when I had my other boat about 10 years ago. Maintenance on mine is literally change the oil and put gas in it. The bigger motors may take more...but I can't comment on it. The motor seems to sip gas...but lets face it, it's a lil motor compared to most bass boats.

Are they good eating? That is the big drive for me fishing is that I love eating halibut and salmon. I am not a catch and release fan for salmon, the survival rates are very low. If you are going to catch them then you should eat them.
It's not what you know, it's who you take fishing!
