Yes, point taken. But...where is the extra salt returned and what happens to the life in that area. And, San Diego has had desalinization for years.

Brine, the remaining waste water is saltier...the water is mixed with industrial wastes to lessen the salt content....Duh!

    I have a Green question ???

How many here have a Clothesline(s) yes I know you still need a dryer for the Winter / Rainy times but really how many take just that one simple cheap step to conserve quite a bit of NRG..

Just one simple step, that actually makes your clothes last longer and smell nice,,, do you ????

Trust me I don't do it for your Kids and Grand-kids or even for the Planet, it is a simple thing that saves money a couple of ways..

    Hand!

As I am married to a true northener, she scuffs at spending a single dime on using our very nice dryer.
    Clothesline it is!
She is no environmentalist at all, but tossing good money out the window, that's where she draws a very thick line...

Well, nickels and dimes she is hellbent on saving, but blowing big bucks on handbags and shoes, now that is an entirely different matter.
    Women, eh?

Compared electrical bills with a neighbour that uses a clothe line and there was little if any difference. I would not get out of bed for that kind of savings.

One thing I like about clotheslines is that dryers wear out clothes. OTOH, clotheslines allow the sun to accelerate fading. Nice on jeans, but not so great for everything else.
