Then, if the perp could be spotted, likely petrol and fire! Shotgun?

So. I suppose YOU would have talked him down from the ledge, convincing him you are his friend. Letting him talk to his mum on the phone and such. Then, he would let you walk him out on a little leash and give him probation with good behavior?

    I rest my case.

If the miscreant did not settle down you could have splashed him with some Clubman. That solution would have been the solution.

I thought that Clubman was the active ingredient in mace?

People I knew that lived in high infestation areas just kept a hot water jug on simmer all day . Instant kill as long as you don't miss

Have you ever poured petrol on a brown snake? Not a good idea unless you have a long hose. They get a bit mad.

I did it once with my little brother. Bloody thing went mad, jumping and wriggling like crazy. Happily I was able to use my brother as a human shield. I think he still hasn't forgiven me to this day.

Seriously, don't pour petrol on a brown snake...

My dog was bitten by a brown, we got her to the vet and she survived, she has killed very snake she has seen since, 2 browns and red belly.

I skinned the first brown to make a belt from it; sadly the dog found where I was tanning it and ate it... Fair enough I guess.
