Any other eccentric hobbies?
I have only just joined, my first razor arrived today and I just love the whole process/nostalgic and this seems like a great community.
Seeing that straight razor shaving isn’t exactly in the mainstream I’m guessing that there are a few unconventional characters out there. Anyone want to share other quirky hobbies? Think this is my first but I’m not very conventional in day to day living.

I love hobbies that help me define myself.
We all too often ask what one does for a living instead of what one does to live.
For me I love moments of intense focus.
When I rock climb, or pick a line through a challenging rapid, when I am trying to catch a read off a difficult opponent in poker, or when I’m shaving with a straight razor- These are moments when nothing else is on my mind. I am there at that moment. I'm alive and really living.

As I get older I find I like fewer hobbies that I can really lose myself in. Up till I went to culinary school My hobbies where all over the place, and I'm still interested in the subject, just not as activly following it at the moment.
Coin Collecting (seated Half Dimes)
Stamps (reptiles)
Reptile husbandry
Fish (Freash water)
Firearms (Pick one)
Backpacking
Brewing
Cooking
Knives (kitchen)
Table top tactical miniature games
Card Games (early days)
And So On.....
College gave me some focus so I only stick to hobbies that further my interest in food and beer, kitchen knives, brewing, and straight razors. As you get promoted in these jobs they expect you to stay clean cut.... well shaving is as close as I'm getting to that, I get to pick how I shave

Thanked: 0Is that a rhetorical question?
The straight razor shaving community seems to be very eccentric. Some of my hobbies are:
Straight razors and safety razors, using, collecting, cleaning up
Blade sharpening, razors and knives
Engine rebuilding
Classic car restoration
SCA (medieval historical recreation)
Blacksmithing, only propane so far
Welding
Computer programming
Leather working and braiding
Yarn spinning, plant and animal fibers
Rope making, Shibari
Just a sampling. Right now, Shaving related hobbies are all I've had time for, but I'm looking forward to being able to more fully explore all of my hobbies in the near future.

I like dominoes and started a collection of domino sets. I go to antique stores to find for them and I only get Double Six sets. I also like tabletop wargaming. I spend evenings painting pewter and plastic miniatures and on weekends I gather with my brother, friends and cold beers and coduct tabletop wargames. Yes, I'm a nerd.
