    Default Explain your username

A few years ago myself and a neighbor used to go horseback riding in the desert. One day while riding my wifes horse, he stumbled across a small wash (a dry river here in Az). It was maybe 2 ft across and 8-10" deep, he went down on his front knees so I let him have his head and he got up. No big deal, he was fine. I started laughing and told him he needed to watch where he put his feet and to pay attention to where we are going. Trust me horses are great to talk to and listen very well.
About a hundred yards or so further down the trail I heard a dirt bike behind us so I stood up in the stirrups and looked behind us to see if it was coming our way. Well just then I heard a whack and felt this sharp pain in my leg I fell back in the saddle and looked at my leg. This big piece of cholla cactus was sticking out of my leg. My wifes horse looked at me like "you need to watch where you put your feet and to pay attention to where we are going".
My neighbor started laughing and said "way to go Cactus Bob". So I use it online.
That will teach me to laugh at a horse.

for those that dont know what a cholla is. Look at the second picture. http://www.desertusa.com/mag99/may/papr/chollas.html

I would love to explain my SRP user name, but it's such a profound revelation...
I think it's too intense for the average member, and I wouldn't want to be responsible for any shaving accidents...

Perhapse when you are older and wiser, then we can discuss it, as well as the meaning of life... 47

But until then you will simply have to suffice with your own vague and probably incorrect speculations...

One may surmise that simply my name is Abe and by the quote below that I like to rock. But the story is much more compelling:

Off on my travels throughout the world I've had a great many spiritual revelations. Many of these revolve (still) around certain places of atmospheres that are to me inspiring. But the most enduring and especially historic was my trip to New Mexico.

About 30 miles west of Roswell, there is, in the open desert, a single outcropping of rocks that all pile up to a throne that looks directly NNW. Lost, after getting totally creeped out by a ride I had hitched and asking to get out (figuring I'd camp in the dessert that night, no big deal), I came accross this shrine and decided to make my home for the night on the top. Just the moment I got to the top thunder CRACKED and clouds began to swirl, and all around me lightning blasted. The clouds were black and reflected crimson fury with each flash; and there I was: in the eye of the storm. Just as quickly as it had appeared, the storm dissipated and so there I sat, for fourteen days, in constant prayer and wonder. Luckily, some locals that all run to that outcropping once a year came then, and broke me from my trance. I was famished and upon awaking had a splitting headache the likes of which noone wants to imagine. They gave me water, and called a ride to take me back, and forever to this day call those stones Abe Rock.

However, one would be wise to believe the obvious as opposed to some shamelessly dramatic and totally improbable alien story. But you may always wonder. . .

Maybe I should have signed up under storyteller. Whu'd'ya think???

It is my middle name, normally I never use it and I thought it would be a good idea to do so in this forum.

My name is Chris Ruzin. Shortened it to CRuzin. I've heard "Ruzin's cruisin for a bruisin" multiple times when I was a kid.

I used to live in my car. Now that life is much better, I use "the wanderer" as a forum handle and for some other stuff as a reminder of how much better it is.

Then there was high school, when I spent _a lot_ of time wandering the Southern Utah/Northern Arizona desert.

Up until a few years ago I used cowboypoet as I liked to write cowboy poetry. After going through a messy situation (and being a big fan of Lynyyrd Skynyrd) I decided that Freebird fit much more nicely. The KD5AFE portion is my amateur radio call sign.

interesting side note, after I became a fan of Skynyrd my brother finally broke down and told me that he went to college with Steve Gaines (the 3rd guitarist, who died with Van Zandt in the plane crash).

I wear a hat everyday. I have several to choose from to match any occasion. I can't remember the lasst time I left the house without one, but I am sure I felt a little underdressed.
