I don't shoot BP, but I do shoot with some folks that do. I try to stay upwind.

My first black powder rifle was a 45 cal. Kentucky cap lock back in the late 70's, don't recall what brand it was but I do remember it was made in Spain. I traded a JC Higgons 12 gauge shotgun for it. I took the shotgun hunting, shot it once and when I tried to unload it before heading home the damned thing jammed 3 times trying to get 4 shells out of it. Got pissed, took it to a pawn shop and traded it for the 45 cal Kentucky muzzle loader, I figured it wouldn't jam on me.....wish I still had it!

Back then I also had a replica of a 36 cal. 1851 Colt revolver, had a blast shooting that sucker until the trigger spring broke.....got rid of it too and wish now I had it back.

Well, I'm down to just two muzzle loaders; a .50 cal. CVA Kentucky pistol and the Thompson Center .54 cal. Renegade. Gave my old .50 cal. Renegade kit I built over 25 years to my youngest (13 years old) grandson. I gave the .50 cal. Renegade my uncle gave me to my youngest son. My cousin recently gave me a .50 cal. CVA Bobcat that needed some TLC, which I gave it, then gave it to my oldest (22 years old) grandson.

Why did I do this you may ask? Well, I'll be 71 years old later this month, don't know how much longer I'll be shooting and figured "Why hoard them", at least they are still in the family which means a lot to me. Now I have someone to shoot with.....besides myself!

    Yup.

    Pedersoli/Enfield two-band.
Pedersoli/Sharps .45-70 that has only had BP run through it.

    I remain ringed in smoke,

Pietta Remington 1858 New Model Army revolver here. I run pyrodex and round ball through it. Lots of fun.
