Cats are Nice (or, is this more Fake News?)
Although extremely difficult to do, please be prepared to forgive the journalist for attempting to coin the term, 'cataholic' (seems more likely to be a misspelling of Catholic)...
Cats are nice and enjoy spending time with humans, study finds--Mark

Seems like a lame study. They could have fed them in the morning & then isolated them for a few hours, means nothing.

Well, if you isolate animals for more than a few hours without food I think that becomes less of a scientific study and starts to border on deprivation / cruel treatment.
Let's just say you are highly skeptical that cats are indeed nice. Me, I don't own pets. I just thought it was humorous article.Last edited by Speedster; 03-29-2017 at 05:58 AM.

Well, when I go away for a few days and my cats are left alone, with food, they always greet me and want to sit in my lap for an hour and get petted.
Of course, afterwards they give me the look of "you can refill our food bowls and go away now..."Some people never go crazy. What truly horrible lives they must lead - Charles Bukowski

A good buddy of mine was going on a car trip up into the Smoky Mountains. His girlfriend had a cat and he gave me a key and asked me to go over and feed the thing. Well this was a middle aged female cat who wouldn't give me the time of day if I was visiting there. She was almost nasty to me.
So the first week when I let myself in she was hiding. Nowhere to be found. I cleaned the litter box, put out fresh food and water. After a week she came out and rubbed against my legs. She purred and was as affectionate as could be. This went on for the remaining week my friends were gone.
I came by in the evening after a week of this to feed her again, and my friends had returned. So I went in and was talking with them about the trip, the cat, and what have you. She (the cat) came out into the living room, and once again, wouldn't give me the time of day.
So this scientific study proves that the cat was starved for affection, not for food. Food, water, a clean litter box were all available whether she showed her face or not. It was companionship that she was hungry for after a week of being alone. Once the familiar friends were back I was superfluous.Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

My cats sit on my head when I'm home. What does that mean?
A little advice: Don't impede an 80,000 lbs. 18 wheeler tanker carrying hazardous chemicals.

Thanked: 292I have had a multitude of cats over the past 44 years. I have learned that cats are like people; there are no two the same.
Some are active; some are couch potatoes.
Some are fearless; some are scared-y cats.
Some are smart and inquisitive; some are dumb as dirt.
Some are sweet and affectionate; some are cantankerous.
Some are gregarious; some are loners.
Some are grateful for what you do for them; some could care less.
I could go on, but I have given enough examples for you to get the idea.
