As a surfer you Have to always be mindful of "the men in gray coats" but try not to think about it too much. If you knew just how many times sharks swam within inches of you you'd never go back in the water. Most of them aren't really interested in people, at least not interested in attacking them. Here at least the majority of attacks are accidental in that they see an ankle bracelet or bold contrasted bathing suit and think they're going for a small fish. I had one bump my board once though scared to ever livin' be-Jesus out of me.

I remember fishing with my dad on the old Flagler Beach pier. People would be out quite a ways standing on sand bars. What they couldn't see were all the sharks cruising between them and the beach.
If you don't care where you are, you are not lost.
