    Thanks. View of Kaneohe Bay from my Patio. Those are the Ko'Olau mountains in the background. The bay is very shallow with a very large sand bar extending out about 1 mile from the shore to the sea. Lots of placid water in the mornings. That's a morning picture.

    Here is the same view during the daytime (with my patio railing to prove it's legit);

    Indeed. I remember on a flight from Chicago to New York about 10 years ago I sat next to a guy and he asked me about the same thing. "You live in Hawaii? Wow. Hey, do you know Bob Davis? He's a friend and lives there too." 1 in 1.5 million chance, but thanks for playing.

    Perhaps not as strange as it may seem to ask.

    Many years ago when my youngest brother got married her grandparents gave them an all expense two week trip to Hawaii. Turned out to be the coldest weather in over 30 years. She was wearing his pants as she'd only packed skirts and shorts. Neither packed a jacket anyway my brother said they about froze.

    Anyway---while they where there they ran into an old buddy of his from High School. Straight line distance of about 2800 miles from home.

    Once while on vacation my family and I walked into a Denny's for breakfast and coming out the door were a couple from our church. Straight line distance was about 1000 miles from home.

    My Company Commander in boot camp was from Lewiston ID which was about 70 miles from where I lived. He knew an old friend's aunt and uncle from high school. However he sure didn't cut me any slack!

    Always a chance, like playing the lottery, but the odds are stacked very heavily against you. I probably personally know 20 people in the entire state of Hawaii by FIRST and LAST name, another 20 by FIRST name only, and another 50 or so by sight, but can't remember their name. That's 90 out of 1.5 million. Very slim odds.
