    Lots of great stuff mentioned already. I love some of the classic John Wayne movies like The Cowboys, Rio Bravo,and a bunch of others too.

    Some of the more modern ones are also great: The Unforgiven (which demythologized the Western to a degree), Open Range, Tombstone, and my all-time favorite, The Long Riders with the Keach Brothers, the Quaid brothers, and the Carradines playing the infamous outlaw gang.

    On television, you had to love Bonanza too, and who can forget the Lonesome Dove series?

    I like the old westerns as well.
    I sat down and watched 'Destry' a few weeks ago. Quite entertaining!

    Some Western movies that stick out in my mind are;

    "3:10 to Yuma" (both the 1957 and the 2007 versions)
    "Stagecoach"
    "Hateful Eight"
    "Tombstone"
    "True Grit"
    "Unforgiven"
    "Open Range"
    "High Noon"
    "The Shootist"
    "Pale Rider"
    "The Westerner"
    "The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance"

    Certainly there are MORE. Just getting the ball rolling.

    My all time favorite - I think because it was an actual cowboys vs Indians movie was Dual at Diablo.

    The storylines are fantastic too! All said and done, it’s an old move, but it still airs well today! Sure it’s a great classic Western, but it’s also just a classic film!

    Love it.

    PS. I’m sure it’s a colour movie.

    It's hard for me to pick an absolute "Favorite" Western MOVIE. I have FAVORITE SCENES, but picking an overall movie is tough.

    For example, I'm a fan of Richard Boone (Have Gun Will Travel). I loved him with John Wayne in "Big Jake", especially the, "I'm Gonna' BLOW your HEAD OFF!" Scene.

    "Pale Rider" and the Ax Handle Scene.

    The final shootout scene in "The Shootist".

    Various "Stagecoach" scenes. Those stunt men must have had nerves of steel.

    The Lilly Langtree Lock of Hair scene between Gary Cooper and Walter Brennan in "The Westerner"

    JUST to name a FEW. Again, there are many more.

    John Wayne and Richard Boone "Blow your head off" scene in "Big Jake;

    Anything with Lee Marvin and/or Clint was good.
    I loved 'Paint Your Wagon'. Hilarious!

    Funniest Western I ever saw was "A Million Ways to Die in the West" with Seth McFarlane, Liam Neeson and Charlize Theron. Funny yes. But Theron is also very easy on the eyes.

    Most Unique Western has to be "Cowboys and Aliens" with Daniel Craig and Harrison Ford.

    Lee Marvin as the twin brothers in Cat Ballou. The scene with Kid Shelleen and his horse leaning drunk against the building still breaks me up. Can’t beat Stubby Kaye and Nat King Cole as the minstrels.
