Thanked: 3228With the flu you risk death especially if you are old, have other chronic health issues or are very young. I could care less if you get the flu or not. That said and everyone being free to make their own choice we should quarantine any individual who gets a communicable disease to keep the rest of use from getting it. It's simple to do with no risks of side effects from taking the vaccine.
Just for chuckles read about the Spanish Flu Pandemic https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spanish_flu This was before vaccines for the flu and parts of the world took weeks if not months to travel to by ship.
Today your infected little body could easily be halfway round the world in less than a day. Even with Today's vaccines it would be hard to control especially if the population you lived in had less than a 95% immunization rate. That is the case in most western industrialized countries today because people are opting out of immunization programs.

You want a reality check? Go to an older cemetery especially in a large city and look at all the graves of young folks who died during that flu epidemic.
I blame it all on stupid people who have no ability for critical thinking and would rather believe what they read on some gossip site rather than science based fact. The perfect example is this thing going around "the web" now. Beware people driving around in white vans with big locks on the doors. They be looking to kidnap you and sell you into the sex slave market.

I absolutely cannot believe that we are even having this mindless discussion. You can tell that none of the antivaxers are statisticians. Do a little research on more than just the symptoms of a conceivable reaction. The chances are so much lower that you will have a reaction to a vaccine than the chances of you dying of one of the plethora of childhood illnesses before vaccinations existed that it is not even worth considering. The reason why the average age is higher now is not because people live to be older it's because they don't die as young largely from diseases. This reminds me of those people back in the 80s and 90s that used to say, "we'd all be better off if we lived like the 'native Americans' did" You cannot be serious with that. crapping in a hole in the ground? Dying at 30 of an infected tooth? Getting cut by something and dying of an infection like tetanus? Cholera?... This is the most absolutely asinine thing I've ever heard in my life

When I was young measles were a fact of life, no big deal. Nowaday they are looked upon as a scourge. What's happened to the human race?

When I had the measles I remember being very, very sick. Chickenpox was a walk in the park after having measles.

When I got the measles my granny came to town and hauled me out to the ranch to help prevent my siblings from getting them. I don't recall if they got them that round or not but mom said we all had gotten measles.
I too remember being horribly sick.
Years later when I woke with a severe ache in the back of my jaws, my dad had me swallow a tablespoon of cider vinegar--Jesus H Christ did that hurt! When dad saw the pain I was in all he said was "Yup! He's got the mumps",then the swelling really started. Out to the ranch I went.
Another time I woke up with a few spots here and there on various parts of my body so my dad ran a really hot bath and had me get in---Booom! Spots popped out all over me! My face, arms etc. Yup! Chicken Pox-- Once again, out to the ranch I went.Last edited by cudarunner; 12-13-2019 at 10:33 PM. Reason: Added what I spaced off writing orginally

Thanked: 563As a child I got the measles that went into my eyes. I had to be in a darkened room for a week or two. Our family doctor came over several times to see me. I guess it was possible that my eyesight could have been impaired as a result of the infection. This was serious stuff.
Chicken pox was a walk in the park in comparison. I think if I have a choice I would like to opt out of shingles. My father in law had them and it was painful.
Never got the mumps, but did get the vaccine as an adult and am keeping my ____ crossed that it works.
Wife and I got the twinrix vaccinations and a whole bunch of other shots before travelling to Bhutan via Thailand and Japan. Never regretted that and had no side effects. Same with our annual flu inoculations.
I have no problem with folks choosing to opt out of vaccinations. I have a huge problem with them expecting our health care system (we have a pretty good one up here north of the border - you should take a look) to care for them when they get sick and causing others to get sick as a result.David

For another chuckle google how allopathic treatments for that flu lost 30% of their patients whereas homoeopaths lost less than 2%
If your only tool is a hammer every problem looks like a nail.
20 years of experience as a homoeopath taught me there are feasible alternatives to many illnesses. The white gleam of swords, not the black ink of books, clears doubts and uncertainties and bleak outlooks.
