Cool News In This 5,000th Post
My wife is pregnant.
The ultrasound at 9 weeks showed a feisty embryo which we're affectionately calling Scrappy.
Both the ultrasound and first exam at 10 weeks revealed a strong, steady heartbeat.
We're at 12 weeks and all systems go so far so we're encouraged that everything will go well.
This is our first child and we're very busy with all the preparations, getting ready for our lives to radically change.
What this means is that I won't be around here as much as I have been. I won't be offering as much advice or free honing for the n00bs who show up in waves. I know there are enough members here now to take up that slack and that's good to see. I won't disappear and I'll be checking in when I can, but as the pregnancy progresses and baby is born *crosses unsuperstitious finger anyhow* my participation will likely diminish.
That's it. That's the news so far. I'll keep y'all posted as things progress.

Congrats! I am not married, but I want to have a kid so bad. I absolutely love kids, probably because I am still a kid. I will always be a kid. Although, I may be getting married soon though....
But again, grats! That's great news! I wish the best of luck and health to your family!

Thanked: 150
That is Xciting, Xhilarating, and worthy of Xclamation!!!!!
Your world is about to be turned upside down, and when it is all over, you would never have it any other way. You will end up getting out of bed to golf at 5:30 a.m., and only play 9 holes, so that you don't miss any time with your kid. You will become intimately familiar with your video camera, and the wife you now have is not the wife you married. She will resurface about 6 months after the child is born, after the hormones and "new baby" syndrome have subsided.
Congratulations, and fasten your seatbelt. It is going to be an awesome ride!!!

Congrats X Felicita a tu esposa de mi parte. Don't make the name Scrappy stick and remember -- now you'll be able to justify the purchase of that 50gal drum of mineral oil

Congrats. The next months will be exciting.
Now let me give you piece of advice.
THE WOMAN YOU NOW LIVE WITH IS NOT THE WOMAN YOU MARRIED.
Anything might happen. You might get lucky every night from now on. OR you might be persona non grata in the bedroom for the remainder of the pregnancy. Or you might be banned from eating your favorite foods.
But whatever happens, roll with the punches and take it all in stride.
After the pregnancy it will all be over and you will be a daddy.
And then, a couple of months later, you will start wondering where all your free time went.
But I wouldn't trade it for anything despite all the inconveniences. I am writing this with the little one sleeping on my chest.Til shade is gone, til water is gone, Into the shadow with teeth bared, screaming defiance with the last breath.
To spit in Sightblinder’s eye on the Last Day

Don't mind Bruno.....he's just overworried for us all. Looks like we're in pretty much the same situation X. My wife is about 12 weeks along as well.....and since I just got a job I'm not around here much either. I'll never leave this place completely though.
