Bin Laden was a terrorist. When you pick that line of work you know from the get go your days are numbered. It's just a matter of time. Comparing him to Putin is ridiculous.

Yes, a lot of Canadians were brainwashed by Trump too. All I say to them is cross the border and apply for refugee status if you don't like it here. While you are at it you can take your ridiculous truckers freedom convoy and border blockades with you.

Yes, I think Bin Laden was a happy man when his lights went out. He probably accomplished more than he ever thought he would as a terrorist.

I have my doubts that Putin will just turn tail and run if the West tried to push him out of Ukraine. That would be a very high stakes bet indeed.

No one is saying that, I haven't heard even the biggest Warhawks from both of our parties say that

Any intelligent person realized it was to late and the wrong people to try that

Then there are a lot of unintelligent people in many countries clambering for a no fly zone be established over Ukraine. Which is in effect a move to push Putin out of Ukraine by outside forces. This what average people are thinking not necessarily politicians.

Unfortunately most people around these days were not around during the Cuban Missile Crisis and have not lived through the "Cold War". To most this whole Nuclear thing is some foreign abstract concept. They have no comprehension what could happen if things go south. Very few folks living today could even begin to survive if they found themselves back in the mid 1800s.

Ain't that the truth. I remember during the Cuban Missile Crisis the air raid sirens going off and if you lived close enough to the school you were allowed to run home otherwise you got the chance to die with your buddies at school and not at home. You should have seen the strain my mother was under because she lived through the terror bombing of Germany during the war and my dad got to see it from our side too. Literally none of my parents generation are left and us boomers are dying off now too. To me, anyone who contemplates the possibility of the spectre of a nuclear war as part of a gamble is off their rocker.

I do know about the Cuban Missile Crisis and I did live through the cold war. In fact i served in the British Army during some of it, so I am very well aware of the effects of a Nuclear strike, had it drummed into us so often and spent so many sessions in the gas chamber testing our noddy suits and respirators, learning how to eat and drink in the gas then clearing it out of our respirators again that we were fed up of training for it.

Although I understand exactly what would happen in a Nuclear war, both short and long term and even though it scares the crap out of me, I think that eventually someone has to draw a line in the sand.

There is every chance that if Putin isn't stopped now he will invade the next country, maybe Finland and simply threaten to fire nukes if we try to stop him because he knows we will be too scared to do anything about it. Russia is only 20 odd miles from Alaska remember, how long would it take him to get there and reclaim it but don't stop him because he might nuke us.

If we die we die, scary prospect but no more scary than it was for the hundreds of thousands that climbed those ladders at the sound of the whistle in WWI that understood that charging across no mans land meant a very good chance of dieing. But they did it anyway because they knew it was the right thing to do. I vote we go kick Putin out of Ukraine right now and let the chips fall where they may, we're gonna do it anyway, if not in Ukraine then maybe in Finland - maybe in ALASKA.

China wants to invade Taiwan so is watching carefully to see how the Ukraine response or non response plays out before they do it. If we don't do something about Ukraine now, every strong nation with eyes on their neighbors will see a green light to go for it and the world map will be redrawn, all because Putin waves his nuclear card and everyone is too scared of him to do anything.

You know I was watching something the other day,and it made it clear that the US would make Putin pooh himself easily, how many aircraft carriers does the US have, Putin has 3 from what I saw. Even if China joined in with Putin NATO would still rub Putin's nose in the dirt.

Next time Putin threatens us with nukes we should just say, please yourself, we have plenty too then see how the bully likes it.

My mum also lived through the blitz in England, our family is from Bournemouth on the south coast and when the bombers returned home from London they would empty any last bombs on Bournemouth before heading over the English Channel. My Nan stayed in the house that mum grew up in until she died and when I was a kid I used to love looking at the bulging area on the stairs where a bomb fell next door and damaged her house too.

Forgive the rant, maybe I'm a wardog but I get embarred when the only thing we will do is give Ukraine a some more weapons so our conscience is clear when they all die.

CNN last night, Biden sad that if Putin uses chemical weapons we would repond in kind, less than a minute later it was said that the US would never use chemical weapons against russian troops. What have i misunderstood, what does in kind mean.
