In a joint statement on Norad modernization issued the US and Canada agreed to take certain steps to the end on 17 Aug 2021.

    https://www.defense.gov/News/Release...modernization/

In a June 2022 statement Canada had this to say about modernizing Norad.

    https://www.canada.ca/en/department-...timelines.html

Then there is this statement from the Canadian government about acquiring new over the horizon radar from Australia as part of the already agreed to modernization of Norad.

    https://www.pm.gc.ca/en/news/backgro...reignty-arctic

This having over the horizon radar capabilities appears to have been agreed to prior to Rump announcing his Golden Dome scheme. The over the horizon radar is an essential part of modernizing Norad and an integral part of the Golden Dome scheme. Without these types of radars installed in Canada the effectiveness to the US of these radars is greatly reduced by leaving a gap in the depth of coverage afforded to the US.

Tell me again that the US doesn't need Canada and Canada was involved in what would be part of the Golden Dome scheme well before Rump arrived on the scene. No real need to ask Rump about, eh.

The US has no treaty with Ukraine. Europe doesnt either. But since its in Europes backyard its their problem to solve. End of story. Obviously Europe is not committing the resources or diplomacy or sanctions to make a difference. So whatever happens happens, Its on them. A regional issue. Yes I know Russia started it. Dramatic speeches and pledges to stand with Ukraine wont do it either. China is a big supplier of weapons but heaven forbid they sanction or tariff china for this. So its all talk. I feel for them obviously but history repeats itself.

Yea, it's in Europe's backyard so it's their problem, end of story. The same as when Germany attacked Poland. That was Europe's backyard too. Their problem. Many in the U.S felt exactly that way. If we had never joined in how would that have worked out???

Why are you guys so fixated on who was Pres when Russia invaded Ukraine? What would you have had Obama do? Invade Russia? Send troops to Ukraine. He tried a stepped approach with sanctions against Russia.

I know you guys love to point fingers. OK you win. Obama did nothing, Biden did nothing. Luckily we have fearless leader and just as he promised he ended that war in a day, before he even became President. Wow, what a guy.

Because you seem to think it is his fault it ain't fixed yet..
Only mistake Trump made was miscalculting that they actually wanted peace or at least a cease fire

I gotta agree at this point in time the US needs to back away with Money, Supplies, and any Diplomacy, they want to kill each other for another 3 years they might be ready to ask for help instead of money..

Dumbest thing I keep hearing is the word "Sanctions" nobody cares to enforce them anyway

It isnt 1939. If the EU did an embargo on any country doing business with Russia the war would end instead of buying all their energy from them for years and years essentially funding the war they claim they are so against. And the EU cant fight a conventional war, so that means if something happens it will have to go nuclear. And then its all over. ANd a meeting with Macron and Putin could potentially lead to Putin teaching him how to deal with getting slapped around in public by his wife. That scene is making the Russians shake in their boots.

I wonder what it will be when Trump actually does get them to stop fighting. Now he's a bully???Not soon enough??? Who knows? It won't be the right thing no matter what it is that's for sure.

Another sure thing is Zelensky needs to stop smack talking.

Like it or not "the world" he accuses of "going on a weekend break" is his only hope of peace and biting the hand that feeds is not encouraging anyone to champion his cause.

Yep. Stop buying Russian oil and it all implodes. That's what Trump is doing in the middle east. Get the world oil price low enough and it breaks the bank for Russia. Funny, it may be that the best thing the US can do to facilitate an end to it is produce our own oil. What a conundrum for the American left.

$61 BILLION USD for Canada to play with the Golden Dome system

Well Bob, I am simply waiting for you to get back on topic, until then, ces't la vie
