I've been using Daiwa J Braid Grand but recently bought some big spools of Berkley X9 as they were cheap.
That Berkley stuff has a crazy high breaking strain.
For leader I use Tortue mono. The white gleam of swords, not the black ink of books, clears doubts and uncertainties and bleak outlooks.

I've been using Berkley, Big Game monofilament for years now. Was designed as a high shock strength, super tough mono, for salt water use. Nothing around here that I can't take on with 20lb.test, in heavy cover.
This bay fills in with Lilly pads as the year goes on. When that happens, I have a spool of 65lb. Braid, that I can swap out on one of my reels. Then I go, punch fishing.Mike

Took my fishin buddy with me yesterday. He only caught one.
I caught three, and lost one. Sorry for the horrible pic, my bud sucks at taking pics. So I've only one to show ya.
It could've ate the others we'd caught.Mike

Update...
Changed lakes. Things have gone into the change there, so I moved to a lake that is a little more behind, in water temp, and vegetation growth. Like backing up a few weeks earlier, in the first lake.
Here's a couple fatty's from today. Plenty of fish in the 1 1/2- 2 lbs. caught, these two were the best of um.
