Any other vegetarians on SRP?
Just wondering who out there is a vegetarian (if anyone). I am always trying to dispel the myth that veggies are sissy little girly men, and, being a man's man myself, I would love to find out who around here joins me in not partaking of flesh.

Thanked: 90Untill the birth of our son, my wife was a vegetarian. However, when the lad was nursing, she craved chicken. She still eats chicken , but is otherwise a veggy. She actually got me to eat tofu and like it. It's all in the preperation, I guess. Her tofu burgers are something I actually ask for, they're so good.
I don't think vegetarians are sissys, I just think that they're missing out on all the really good food

Even when I order a salad it has

out.

My wife was a vegetarian for 10 years or so. She just go tired of the hassle of dealing with trying to get just vegetarian meals. I have NEVER been a vegetarian. My dad was a butcher.

Thanked: 7Perhaps you can answer something I've been curious about: I know there are vegetarian strops available, but what is it that they're made of? I find it hard to imagine a synthetic material being sufficiently similar to leather in it's mechanical properties and I can't think of a plant based material which would be suitable either.

Well, to be honest, I use a leather strop. The strops you refer to are for vegans or "total" vegetarians. I am a veggie for health reasons, so I don't get all uptight about using leather products. For information about the vegan strops, it would probably be best to ask Tony Miller (username: Tony Miller). He should be able to answer any questions about them, seeing as he makes them.

Tony's strops are thermal poly urethane. Before the crash there were a couple reviews from people here about them. They seemed like a viable alternative to leather if you needed it. I believe Josh (Josh Earl) and Ilija (Firestart) were the reviewers.

We use a thermal polyurethane material over a cloth base. It actually has more draw than leather and is fairly indestructable too. A few guys here have them, some are vegans, other wanted them for travel where strop care will not be an issue. We also sell them through Vegan Essentials an online retailer of all vegan products.
I do feel leather is still a bit better but if one cannot use leather this does fit the bill.
