    Default anybody famous?

So I was watching TV the other day and could have sworn that I saw one of our members on a commercial. It wasnt him, but it got me thinking... With 4000 members, we're bound to have someone famous for some reason or another. So thats the question, are you famous?

And no, it doesnt count if you can burp the alphabet, crapped a 9 pound turd or what ever other oddities out there. I'm saying, a news person, TV/Movie actor, Radio personality, Sports Figure ect...

me, no I"m not famous for anything decent...

I think if you look at the pic thread, Kees, shows a pic of himself on television. Maybe he is? Don't know though.

    Dammit.

I thought I was going to be the first to mention Kees.

While working in Malaysia i got the chance to be an extra in a movie...

I got nearly 10mins of screen time... standing in the background in a bar scene chatting to a "working girl"... though that part wasnt explained to me until the shooting was finished...

    Famous enough?

I was on TV once only. I have been involved in marketing hoodia in the Netherlands. Eventually it got banned because of EU regulations. Any herbal remedy that had not been for sale within the EU before 1997 will have to prove beyond any doubt that it is safe. As you cannot patent herbal remedies as opposed to newly discovered synthetic or semi-synthetic drugs we did not persue the matter. So this was a very short lasted moment of fame.

    ahaha... good onya Kees

How it turned out was... i was asked to lean against the bar and the actor in the scene would enter the bar walk past and speak to me for a minute then "notice" somebody accross the room and walk out of the frame...

then it cut to the next scene where he and another fella were talking (in malay) and i was standing in the background talking and laughing with one of the girls in the bar... the actual girl was one of the wait staff from the hotel we were living in... the film was being shot in the bar of the hotel... thats how the opportunity came by...

All i had to do was act happy and drunk... which was handy... because i was happy and drunk

it was only later that the girl who worked in the hotel explained that in the context of the movie... this male actor was a pimp who was scoping out the bar to see if it was worth bringing his girls inside... then in the next scene he was arguing with another 'business man' about territory and i was in the background (having spoken to him briefly) with a pretty young lady....

up to that point i though they chose me because of my rugged good looks... but it turned out they chose me because its not unusual to see happy drunk ex-pats talking to young ladies in bars in SE asia...

    lucky me !!

I used to do a lot of extra work and have done many plays and more than a few student films.

I guess I'll say "not yet."
