I ride american iron to reduce gasoline consumption. Not so much for the earth, but hey, it works out in the end
Really, I mostly do things along the lines of fccexpert. I pick up trash around my home and don't litter because I think it's gross and unsightly. I turn off lights when I'm not using them because it's a waste of money. I would like to collect rainwater, but in an apartment, it doesn't really matter

Earth day eh?
Well I filled up my Dodge Ram 350 dualie with about 60 gallons of diesel and went through the backwoods making plenty of ruts in the national forest roads chasing some black bears and shining lights in deers eyes to immobilize them before I shot them and then went to a prairie dog city and put a high pressure water hose down a burrow and as the critters popped out I used them for target practice with my 810 shotgun. On any other day I'd use my 12 gauge with 00 buckshot but today I gave em a chance.
Just kidding guys I really didn't do any of that and I don't own that pickup. No matter how many men you kill you can't kill your successor-Emperor Nero

I must apologize for forgetting Earth Day 2010
I guess I did so well last year that it completely slipped my mind between April 22 and now.I am happy to report that I met 3 out of 4 of my goals from last year. I missed the wastebasket a few times during some plasticware birthday parties, but I will work harder on that this year
I retook the carbon footprint test described here and found my score has risen, but still remains below the US average. Does that mean I am among the best of the worst? Thank you, The Earth, for another year of letting me live. If you have not taken the test, please do. It is important to understand how you are destroying our beautiful world

Thanked: 23Still consuming to the maximum level for which I can pay. I reduce use only to the extent that it saves me money with minimum inconvenience so that I can consume more of what I want.

Well, I missed another Earth Day, but it's never too late to celebrate mother earth. Where are all the earth day threads this year? In 2008 there were lots of them - I guess people only talk about what is being hyped currently, but I care about the Earth everyday! Slartibartfast might even tell you the Earth is the Tim Tebow of planets
So anyway I retook the test this year again as is my custom, and I've actually dropped a point from 2008 but risen slightly from last time. It's still a good chunk below the national average though. I scored a 74; how did you fare? (related thread on calculating your contribution to trashing our once-beautiful and unmarred by human presence planet here: http://straightrazorpalace.com/conve...ing-earth.html)
I know you're all wondering whether I've met my goals from last year - the answer is I did meet all the goals I set, since I didn't set any. But at least I'm not going backward. Also, I did consider purchasing an electric mower for my yard this year, but I was afraid of cutting the line which would really put a dent in earth's happiness. All that metal mined for wire, and rubber stolen from perfectly good trees for insulation; no, I would not have it. Then I considered a push-reel mower, but again I didn't feel like that would be conserving much energy since it's harder to push (I let my grass grow because I am a conscientious naturalist). And getting down on my knees with sheers is just so 18th century and non-progressive so I eventually decided to upgrade to a Honda-powered gas-guzzler. Oh well, burn all the oil now and ask for forgiveness later I always say
How did you celebrate Earth Day this year?

Matt, I'm so glad you asked. Earth Day is the day you celebrate your self-emasculation for the Earth in the hope that future generations won't intensely hate you. There has been some debate, but it can't hurt (though it should) to punish yourself ahead of time as a sort of penance insurance against greater punishment later.
