I normally try to stay away from political talk, but I thought I might chime in here.
I don't quite understand the point you are trying to make with this article. It would seem to me that Obama is declaring that his political agenda is not in any way tied to Wright, but that he does wish to continue their friendship. To me, as long as he is truthful with regard to the first part, I find it incredible that he is willing to preserve relationships with people, rather than throw them away for personal benefit like almost any other politician.
Now I realize that's a big IF on the first part, but I do really REALLY appreciate that Obama started out trying to run a clean campaign. The fact that they are having so much trouble coming up with dirt on him from his past is a sign to me that he actually is a good person. In the mean time, Hillary has been making up several lies that have been proven false by even the mass media, including denying NAFTA support, claiming explicitly on numerous occasions that she was under sniper fire with an elaborate made-up story, and circulating images of Obama dressed respectfully according to culture in middle-eastern clothing and calling him a terrorist. This is all available in footage available on YouTube for those who care to look it up. She has been playing dirty from the start and cannot debate on serious issues, only throw around insults and false accusations. I have lost all respect for the Clinton campaign.
That said, I also have a reasonable amount of respect for McCain. I would love to see Obama vs. McCain, and I personally think that the Dem support is so split right now that McCain will have an easy win.
*please note the above is based purely on character of the candidates and not the platforms they are running on.
