I have to disagree. It isn't the hanging sheet that is ugly, it's the roll itself. If you have a short amount hanging from the front you have hidden half of the ugly roll making it look more aesthetic IMO.

    I think it's genius
I had my own moment of genius. I realised that thousands of marriages could be saved if the toilet seat operated like the lid on a pedal bin. Man goes in, stands on the pedal, does his business then when he leaves the seat lowers, maybe with a nicely damped motion. (No, not THAT kind of damped!)

Needless to say, I found the Japanese had beaten me to it.

That's not it at all... it's that the two options are representations of the male and female genitalia. Think about it... one hanging out, the other hidden.

So true I was always a toward the wall guy until I moved into my house. The dispenser here is sunk into the wall so hanging it toward the wall isn't really an option so I had to switch... my cat hasn't noticed the change yet, heh.

Ever since I got my cats (well my wife got herself cats, and they are be default my cats too), the TP only goes toward the wall. When it is hung to unroll away from the wall I always end up with a pile of TP on the floor, completely unrolled, because the cat(s) find it sooooooo fun to unroll it. When I was BC (before cats) I really did not care.
