It's all pretty much been stated, but I can throw in my two cents.
Marine Corps: No peircings on males. Period. They just cracked down on tattoos, so neck and facial tats are a no-go. Sorry.
As for the rest, I couldn't tell ya. I assume the no piercings is universal. I've seen neck tats on some Navy personnel, but I ain't sure about current regulations.
Honestly, I used to work in a little fast-food joint that had that indie vibe, and piercings and tats were welcome. Vulgarity is out, most likely.
Best way to get a job is a good, hard working attitude. Even if you're not psyched about the job, let the interviewer think that you will put 100% effort.
Good luck, man.

Army regs are no tattoos above the collar, to include the scalp. Tattoos below the wrist are frowned upon. Any tattoos that are racist, offensive or gang affiliated are not permitted, regardless of location.
Piercings: men are not allowed to wear jewelry involving piercings in uniform, on duty or on any military installation. Ear rings are tolerated off post, although I wouldn't push that one.

Thanked: 1Congratulations on the job, Metalhead; it might not be your dream job but it's a start, and I know the feeling when it's a struggle to find work.
Just a thought, but would you consider the offshore drilling industry? It's not for everyone, and it can take time to get the first job, but once you've got that first hitch in then you've got a real chance for good promotions and pay, all based on hard work. I'm inked and pierced (nothing too visible though) but some of the guys I work with have more ink than skin and if they died they could be sold for scrap metal value!
That's just how I've found the industry over here in Europe, of course your side of the pond may differ.
Congratulations again!
Ian.
