Thanked: 21Of course! That's the basis of the whole argument of both sides. Some people believe that the fetus is alive beginning at conception, and others believe that this isn't the case. I can understand that you're in the former camp, that we have no way of knowing which opinion is correct, and I make an effort to understand that I'm not going to persuade you otherwise. I don't perceive much effort to try to understand where my opinion is coming from.

Thanked: 31OK. I will. She's a conniving, lying, arrogant, stumbling, dirty politician. She has no concept of what the Constitution limits both herself and the government to actually doing. Statistically, she has the same chance of becoming president that Biden does. 50%. McCain either will or won't die in office. Obama either will or won't die in office. Anyone that needs the Bush doctrine explained to them shouldn't be anywhere near the button. Anyone that thinks the Bush doctrine is worthy of defending shouldn't be anywhere near the button. Anyone that thinks Obama is going to cut taxes is a fool. Anyone that thinks the president can actually and unilaterally dictate economic policy doesn't understand congress. Anyone that accepts Obama's "not raise taxes" on "95%" of the nation as being the equivalent of an actual tax cut doesn't understand simple subtraction. Anyone that thinks.... whew... I've lived under an actual, literal fascist dictatorship. I've lived a couple of years under an elected Socialist Party government. I and my family have lived under socialized medicine (both as a national policy and the military care we get now). Because of this, I have to stop now. I'm getting too worked up, and this isn't the forum for my passion. (Vote Eisenhower in '08!)

uhhh... does anyone really think a fetus isn't alive? of course it's alive, every cell in your body is alive. pretty sure everyone agrees on that. now, whether it's valuable and should be discarded is a different matter. some of us believe that it's not valuable, and thus discarding it isn't a big deal. but it's demonstratably alive, in any event.

Thanked: 586I'm sorry Scott but you are not showing any interest in bashing Sarah Palin and that's the topic and purpose of this thread. Also, no one is questioning whether a fetus is alive at conception, of couse it is alive. The argument (as I have already detailed) is whther that life is to be considered a viable human being.
Maplemaker,
You aren't writing with statistical accuracy. McCain and Obama most certainly do not have the same chance of completeiing their first term if elected President. McCain is 72 years old and in questionable health. Statistically he is certain to die long before Obama.
Now please, show some disrespect for Sarah Palin because she is an imbecile.

I think Palin is an excellent arguement for birth control - be it abortion, the pill, a condom, ugly eye glasses....
...and I still want to chop off those annoying bangs. Also, what's with the kids' names?

My view on abortion - it is up to the woman to decide. I can never experience a pregnancy, therefore my view is only abstract opinion.
As for the anti-abortion folks, if they are so very passionate about saving fetuses (feti?), then we can register all those against abortion, and when a woman seeks guidance for her pregnancy, if she decides she would like to terminate, then one of the people from the anti-abortion list can be randomly assigned to care for her, pay for the additional costs during the pregnancy, and then, when the child is born, the assigned anti-abortion person would be given the child under legal adoption. No allowances would be made for race, health, or origin of the pregnancy (i.e. if the woman was a victim of rape, incest, etc.).
I am sure that there would be many who would love to do that...and there would be many, many more that would not. Americans (or people in general) love to protest a wide variety of issues, but there is probably a huge disparity between those who are vocal, versus those who "put their money where their mouth is".
There was a comedian who said if men could get pregnant, abortion would probably have been added to the Constitution and there would be clinics everywhere - with pool tables, big screens TV showing the big game, bar food, foosball, hunting trophies on the wall....
...and speaking of deer in headlights, can you imagine Palin trying to address the UN? (way to segue, eh, icedog?)

Thanked: 267So let me get this right. If you start a post that is based in a fictional premise, then no one has the right to post unless they agree with you? Once you post something you are open to many different levels of scrutiny and, all this is related. The election! Going back to my grade school math it is a "Subset" of a "Set". The subset is McCain-Palin under the "Set" which is The National Presidential Election.
So your comeback is based on feeling comfortable posting anything you wish and no matter what you say it should not be commented on! Oh that will work!
This election like all the rest that we have every had is a battle of ideas! So try to keep it civil junior.
Take Care,
Richard

Thanked: 586Sarah Palin is a liar and an idiot. That sir is fact, well documented and proven fact, not fiction. That is what we are discussing. I am not asking for your opinion unless it agrees with that fact. Hey look, it's not my rule. Take it up with JMS. I started this thread to bash Sarah Palin and id you don't agree with me, you may start your own thread.
Are you calling me "junior"? I don't know why you would see the need to start namecalling. That is certainly not civil.

Brad, maybe he was referring to your former custom title which read, "Funny, I don't feel junior"
Oops! that was off-topic, sorry. Palin ruffles feathers, she incites fear and hatred from her opponents, aaa, so bad so badFind me on SRP's official chat in ##srp on Freenode. Link is at top of SRP's homepage
