I didn't announce that I was gonna try str8 razor shaving. I ordered my first razor, a new Dovo (thus, newdovo), and just went at it.
My morning shave had been a mundane task. I did switch to a brush and soap a couple months earlier, but to little fanfare.
The first time she saw me with the str8, she just said "What's that?" And so I told her of my new endeavor. This was her look... It's been over two years now. And let me comment that I couldn't have gotten where I am without this group.
These days, as far as she's concerned, I guess it's back to business as usual. I don't get "the look" anymore. Some mornings we're both at the bathroom mirror, I'm shaving, she's doing her ... gal thing... and we're chatting about the usual stuff. No big deal about the str8.
She did once, at a social event, throw out that I shave with a str8. I'm usually the one to lead conversation in that direction. So, even though she doesn't say so, I think that she's a little jazzed by my straight razor endeavor. Maybe...

We had a string about 18 months ago about members offering to shave their wives legs for them with the straight. The reactions were mixed, but some ladies were quite excited by the gesture.

Thanked: 0My wife was very supportive. In fact she became nostalgic at first because watching me use the shave soap and brush reminded her of her late grandfather.
After a while, she thought that I was crazy when I would cut myself up all of the time. Now that I have become proficient in the straight razor use, she even let me shave her neck with it (she has shorter hair)! She even got a kick out of watching Scent of a Woman-the scene where Al Pacino gets a straight razor shave at the barber shop.

Thanked: 1My wife liked the idea of collecting. Wasn't too sure about using though. She supports me, and listens, but is afraid to watch me shave. I've been trying to get her to let me shave her legs. I'm still working on that.

Thanked: 0My sweet little lady got me started on this last Christmas. I told her sometime last year that I thought it might be fun to try and on Christmas a strop, mug, soap, brush and a new Dovo showed up. She really likes the hobby, thinks it's masculine, spends lots of time looking at and occasionally buying stuff. She's always collected pottery, so pointing out that mugs are collector's items helped a lot, which led her to ebay. I had to crack down on ebay though. She was paying way too much for dinged-up rusty old specials.

Thanked: 0supportive partner
My girl friend is really supportive of it. She loves the way my face feels after a str8 shave and she is actively encouraging all her girl friends to get their blokes to take it up too.
She has also offered to do it for me (still thinking about that one) and she has also asked if I will shave her legs with it, not sure about that one either !!!!!!!!!!!

Thanked: 0Well, my wife is very supportive. She is a little afraid of me cutting myself though. (Don't have razor yet, it's in the mail from classicshaving)
One thing she insisted on is that I shave only when she's at home for the first while... :? just in case I cut myself too bad and need a ride to the hospital.
But she looks forward to it and thinks that a man who knows how to handle a str8 properly is sexy.

Thanked: 0My girlfriend thinks its def more masculine than disposables and cartridges and I told her the shaves would be very smooth. Her advice was to be careful and tell her when I get it down.
