    What? No shave music???

My wife wasn't too pleased when I first took up the straight, before that she used to use mine

She always thinks I’m a little strange, like when I started wearing a kilt several years back but now she likes it so she may get use to the straight after a while. I’ve got several blades waiting for me when I get back, one I bought from Bill, a TI and strop that I picked up from classic shaving and several straights that I’ve picked up off ebay. I also picked up a pasted paddle strop from Tony and along with several different soaps and creams that I’ve ordered I have a lot of things waiting for me when I get home (along with the wife that I haven’t seen in six months). It’s almost like a kid waiting for Christmas. Six months ago the only thing I had going for me was a good badger brush some ok soaps and was still using a Mach 3. I got the DE figuring it would be a less steep learning curve going from a DE to a straight. I’ve got a month left until and I’m looking forward to trying the straight for the first time.

I shaved my fiancé's legs last week.....and she liked one of the razors that I got in a deal soo much that she's claimed it.....don't know if she'll continue using a straight though.
She's not the only girl that I know of that has wondered about using a straight on her legs either.

I'm lucky to have a wife who thinks that all of my razors and shaving things are cool. She often looks at the safety razors and straights I have and tells me how nice they are. I'm lucky!

My wife could care less anymore. She was afraid I would kill myself or something by cutting my throat. She even let me shave her legs(once). She told me as long as I shave she doesn't care how. I guess I could shave with a shard of glass and it wouldn't matter as long as no trips to the hospital

I probably shave my wife's legs more often than I shave my face. My wife bought me the stainless Dovo and the Red bone handled Dovo and a few brushes and a fair bit more. She supports me in almost everything I do. Except when we're running late and I hop out of the shower and pick up my brush. "We don't have time for THAT!"

My wife is fine with it. I was shaving regularly w/ a straight when we first dated till after after about a year of marriage when I grew a full beard & started using a Merkur HD slantbar to shave around it. I'd still use the straights occasionally, but found them harder to manuver in the tight places. A year ago I shaved off all facial hair for the first time since 1978; both times for a part in a play. That started me back using the straight for awhile. After the run, I regrew the beard at SWMBO's instistance. Recently my 17 yr old son hijacked my Merkur so I cut the beard down to a goatee & went back to the straights. Right now I feel like it's the best of both worlds. I have room on my face to manuver w/ a straight and at the same time miss the problem spots of upper lip and chin. The other half likes the extra close shave I get on my neck now. It's amazing! Our 23rd anniversary is this month and she's not sick of me yet!

Congrats Dennis 20+ years is not as common as it once was. Shortly after I return home next month we’ll be celebrating our 24th and she hasn’t kicked me out yet either. Maybe things will be different next year when I retire from the military. She may get tired of me once I’m home a little more.

Thanks Ray! Both for the good wishes and for your years of service! I'd suggest two things to keep everything on an even keel after your retirement: Get a hobby that takes you out of her way, and/or a mutual hobby that you can do together and have fun with. I have my pipe smoking club, www.tsptc.org , and we both have church activity and the theatre company where we were founding members about 14 years ago. www.godsdrama.org . Take care and God bless.
