That is the last thing I will do. You're just telling me to shot myself in the foot and cripple my advantage. NO WAY. The poll stands, I'm right, she is wrong, and that's that. (I talk big on a forum that she doesn't read ).

What do we have in common? The ability to use a computer to get online and an interest in shaving with straight razors. Probably not much correlation to knowing the meaning of "arid"...

Here's your solution. Pick a venue. Bar, street corner, cafe with tables on the sidewalk. Take turns picking a target subject.
"Excuse me, we're having a disagreement about the word "arid" and don't have a dictionary handy. Have you heard of the word? and do you know what it means?"

Play for high stakes. You have a sure winner. In fact, set the line at around 4:1 and play for proportional stakes.
"you win and I do dinner and cleanup for a week"
"I win and you wear a t-shirt or something that prominently says 'He IS right most of the time' for a week"

Every time I disagree with mine, even when I'm right: I get a "Denial of Services" for at least a week! It's just not worth it for me to disagree anymore.

Then she'll want to pick the person and it'll be the dumbest looking person walking by. I'd rather the small loss than one she can gloat over. Gloating is terrible unless you're the one doing it

That's why you take turns picking people and stipulate that you have to poll some total number of people. I'm thinking the hit ratio would be well over 80% on people who completed high school and maybe over 50% on people who didn't. can't lose.

Haha, we could set up a SRP calcutta on the event.

You're such a risk taker! I still say I'd rather the small loss Because really, no matter what, even if you take turns picking and you come out on top, you can never really win, not truly. You might end up getting a DoS attack like jmueller
