Arid is a great word that I believe many people know. Now, if you said sesquipedalian I would have to agree with her....Look it up!

Thanked: 77Pretty common word around here... of course we live in what technically qualifies as a desert. And what else would you use to describe hot and dry?
...Although now that I think of it, why do I associate arid with hot and dry? haha, so maybe I don't actually know what it means . How should you vote if you know the word but sort of misuse it?Last edited by Quick; 02-24-2009 at 04:56 AM.

Thirty or so years ago my wife and I were at the in-laws. They had a set of encyclopedias and the wife and I got into a disagreement about one topic or another. I really don't recall now what it was.
I went to the set of encyclopedias and looked it up. I read the article to her proving I was right and without hesitation she told me that the encyclopedia was wrong. How do you argue with that ?Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.
