I don't see a logical flaw. I think the problem is with timing--this being long after any time when people want to hear or think about pols with their pants down.

actually, although you can revoke "Thank This Post" it seems you cannot revoke reputation (good or bad) I just went and tried it on a semi-worthy post for positive rep, and I can't find a way to revoke it.

also, I have been noticing the upswing in negative rep as well, been given a couple myself. I don't really see it as a big deal. it seems analagous to /. in that it's like "-1 Troll" or "-1 Flamebait". I don't think disagreeing with someone is a good reason to use it, but if they are genuinely being an ass (and here I've been guilty a few times, and slapped with negative rep for it, too) then I don't think using negative rep is necessarily a bad thing.

mods, is there a way to revoke reputation? now I'm curious. I propose a test... everyone start randomly handing out rep with no sense or reason, pretty soon it'll be meaningless
