Thanked: 369Sorry about your loss. Crooks are generally pretty stupid folks, and tend to make stupid mistakes - hopefully those who did this to you will get caught.

Sorry for your loss.
A family member was visiting Raleigh last weekend. They left the motel door slightly cracked open for a few minutes while they ducked into the bathroom for a second. When they came out the laptop, credit cards, and two nice diver watches were gone along with a pillow case.

Man sorry to hear about that, crime in Charlotte is getting out of hand, but as everyone has said things are things.
That being said, there are some things you just need. I'm not to far away. If you need anything, bedding, pots and pans, food or whatever, let me know I'll see what I can get and bring it.
You are right, it does suck!

That is horrible! Good that you are all OK, though. Was it a forced entry? Any strange people hanging around your place before you left? Any associates back home have any shady friends? Pretty bizarre that they even took the mattresses and couch...that meant they were confident that they would not be interrupted or questioned. Is the landlord trustworthy? Very brazen deed....does not sound random.
Thieves are the scum of the earth....I had someone I met in Moscow steal a laptop bag with all the stuff in it, incl. cell phone, ticket home, personal mementos....was also broken into while living in Baltimore...the SOB was trying on clothes! Scared him away...he left wearing only his undies. I hung his stinking clothes out on the flag pole on the 3rd floor of the house as a "trophy". I called the police, but htey were no help...I asked how many half naked guys would be running down the street...they said "Well...it is Baltimore..." I have had house alarms ever since.....
Later, when i was a cop in Baltimore, I was cleaning the front stoop and a local dirtball was walking by and looked in the front door (another rowhouse) and said "Nice place...I may have to pay you a visit!" I said "I have 50 9MM reasons you don't want to do that...." and showed him my badge (the Glock was in a fanny pack around my waist, as I was required to be armed at all time since I lived in the city)...I never saw him again. Odd, no?
In the future, I recommend renter's insurance (if you don't own the home)...it does not cost much and it can go a long way to getting you back on your feet.
I have only one opinion about thieves (be it burglars or Wall Street scum):

Thanked: 234That is awful, it seems you have the right attitude though, and I have no doubt that those closest to you will get you back on your feet with the essentials.

Thanked: 586That terrible feeling of violation and loss. I am sorry you are experiencing this. I don't want to sound trite but I know first hand, regardless of what was stolen, it was just stuff. You still have the woman and child you love.
Hey, if it means anything, I may very well have a decent razor and a brush I never use.Last edited by icedog; 07-04-2009 at 11:07 AM.

Yup, feel your pain. Although I didn't lose as much as you, the feelings are horrible. Sorry to hear about the loss, hope they cath the SOBs!
