Thanked: 234It wouldn't surprise me. I have been told that very cheap quartz watches will generally keep better time than very expensive mechanical ones.

Not according to Breitling and their Superquartz, but we may be talkinh here about differences of 1/100th of a second or similar....
To the OP, have a look at the Dornbluth if you like the Stowas....

Thanked: 102Dornbluth
I checked out the Dornbluth site. Those are beautiful watches.
Wish I could afford one.

Personally, I can set my time back a few seconds a month in exchange for cash money.

Dude, you're the one who started the thread about "affordable" watches while posting up a bling-bling model!
I have a ~$200 Seiko, all titanium, alarm chronograph, sapphire crystal, waterproof 100M. Fits the bill for me.
And it doesn't look like a classroom clock either!

Thanked: 20That watch (the stowa) looks a lot like a vintage WW2 omega luftwaffe watch... they can easily be had for +/- 100$USD.
About quartz... I was told the same thing by a jeweler. Even on automatics, he said that most of the money was on the casing.
